The Centre de Cooperation Internationale en Santé et Développement or the CCISD was founded in Quebec in 1987. Under Canada’s Corporations Act, the organization officially became a non-profit organization in 1996.
This non-profit organization aims to create, develop, and manage several international health projects. This goal is made possible with CCISD’s team of experts who are stationed all over Central America, Canada, and Africa.
The CCISD has been promoting structured actions for more than two decades. This diverse group of medical experts functions within various areas of expertise that include the prevention of HIV/AIDS, the backing of primary health care, as well as epidemiological surveillance.
The Center for International Cooperation in Health and Development also does several intervention strategies. The group also initiates performance measures, community participation, as well as provides support to governance and more. So far, the group has managed to hold over 100 projects in more than 20 different countries.
Its advocacy pushes the organization to take certain measures to improve the general health of various populations all over the globe by improving the each region’s health sector resources. Additionally, the CCISD ensures the sustainability of its health initiatives by following a few integral principles such as gender equality, ownership, empowerment, and transfer of knowledge.
