A Leg to Stand On

Posted by admin in Medical Philanthropy on 03 22nd, 2010 | no responses

ALTSO is a charitable organization founded by Dr. Dinesh G. Patel and C. Mead Welles. It is currently headed by a group of dedicated people including Dr. Harold van Bosse, Catharine Carroll, Kersen de Jong, Barbara Iler, and James Zengierski.

This organization aims to help children with limb disabilities in several developing countries to gain equal access to several opportunities obtained through proper education and mobility.

The organization offers its core program of treatment, therapy and training with the help of its various partners. The ALTSO foundation cooperates with several in-country organizations, allowing them to meet the local community halfway as well as to cover a larger portion of their service costs.

With the help of their partners, the ALTSO organization is able to have enough clinic space, as well as ample amount of materials and funds. In addition, ALTSO’s partnerships with other groups also make it easier for them to enlist more volunteers from the local media community. They can easily find orthopedists, physical therapists, as well as pediatric orthopedic surgeons.

A Leg to Stand On is a tax exempt organization registered under the New York State Attorney General’s Charity Bureau and is registered with the authorities in all states that require registration.
