How Simon’s Wish Came True

Posted by admin in Medical Philanthropy on 07 1st, 2010 | no responses

Lymphoma, a form of cancer that arises in the lymph nodes, is usually malignant and deadly. Yet, 14-year old Simon struggles on and continues to receive therapy for his medical condition.

As a result of his health problem, Simon has to be in isolation for about 10 months, which means he will not get to see friends and do his usual daily activities for several months. For this reason, he asks for one unique wish – indulging in shopping at his favorite store, Williams Sonoma, a kitchen and cooking gadget shop (unlike most kids his age, Simon enjoys cooking as a hobby).

However, with his weakened immune system, it is practically impossible for Simon to visit the mall. Enter Children’s Wish Foundation.

To make Simon’s wish come true, CWFI allowed him to browse the Internet and choose kitchen gadgets and tools he liked. The foundation then provided all those gadgets for the young chef. CWFI even presented Simon a monogrammed apron.

One of the kitchen tools he received was a pasta maker, his new favorite. It has all the attachments he needs to make just about any pasta dish. Thanks to the kind hearts of the people at Children’s Wish Foundation, the 14-year old has been busy creating one delicious dish after another with his new pasta machine.
